Can a big fat guy (me) ride a Sportster 1200 Roadster at highway speeds?
Will the bike move 300 pounds of rider at highway speeds, and can it
accelerate quickly under such a load?

Had a '86 883 sporty a few years back. 1200 kit, wiseco pistons, andrews N2
cam,
SS Super E carb, RevTech ar-II pipes. Myself and my wife, combined weight of
about 350lbs. No problems achieving hi-way speeds. Used to hit speeds of 90+
mph on the short stretch of interstate H-1 between Waipahu and Makakilo. I
miss that lil' bike. heh......

No!
Listen fat guy, you don't even own a motorcycle, much less a Harley.

Yep. I was doing it yesterday on my friends 1200 '98.

But you'll look stupid as hell, if that's important to you.

(don't ask me how I know)

If you're secure in your fatness, go fer it.

Just as an aside, I read a few years ago that removing 7 lbs from a motorcycle
gave it an effective 1 hp increase in drivability performance.

That would mean that being large has one huge benefit - the cheapest
possible high performance work. That is, spend no money on food
and watch yer bike go faster.

I Agree......300 lbs, is like a guy and his wife or whatever........it's
just that one person dressing out at 300#. appears to look like that
person is "wearing the motorcycle". or that person looks like they are
on a 250 rebel....or that person looks like they do have someone riding
with them, afterAll........hmmmmmmm? BUT, I have a new son-in-law, that
weighs around 300, and his wife, my daughter, probably weighs 160, so
they bought an 1800 Vtween big old Honda Hog....and he says it lopes
along at 80mph...
hmmmmmmmm? kr
